The latest changes to the National Immunisation Program (NIP) will require GPs to reassess the timing and provision of pneumococcal vaccine for older Australians, a GP academic from Bond University says.

Associate Professor Mark Morgan, chair of the RACGP Expert Committee – Quality Care, says the latest changes to the NIP’s pneumococcal vaccination program – effective 1 July – are supposed to simplify vaccination advice.

But he argues they are complex, notwithstanding the advantages to patients.
