Reproductive lifespan tied to post-menopausal handgrip strength
The finding could be due to the 'beneficial effects of oestrogen on skeletal muscle'.
For postmenopausal women, a longer reproductive period is associated with a reduced risk for low handgrip strength, according to a study in Menopause.
Dr Sae Rom Lee, from the Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital in South Korea, and colleagues examined the association between reproductive period, encompassing menarche and menopause, and handgrip strength in postmenopausal women.
