Next day discharge ‘safe and feasible’ for minimalist TAVI
Men and patients with larger aortic valve areas are the most likely to be able to leave hospital early, Hobart doctors say
Most patients undergoing minimalist transcatheter aortic valve implantation for severe aortic stenosis can be safely discharged a day after the procedure, Tasmanian doctors have found.
Their single-centre study — developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic — suggests a 30-day mortality rate of less than 1% among those who successfully achieved next day discharge.
