App predicts worsening asthma from night-time coughs

AusDoc brings you the latest news from the European Respiratory Society Congress 2020.
Using a smartphone app to monitor coughing frequency at night might be helpful in predicting asthma exacerbations, Swiss researchers say.
They presented the results of a study on 79 adults with asthma to delegates at the European Respiratory Society international virtual congress (ERS 2020) this week.
Participants, who were being treated at two Zurich asthma clinics, had their symptoms assessed and completed the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality index at baseline before using the app overnight for 29 days.
