1 in 4 patients die within a year of first HF hospitalisation: study
Better use of guideline-directed pharmacotherapy may cut rehospitalisations, say researchers.
Globally, one in four patients die within 12 months of their first heart failure-related hospitalisation, according to a study in JACC: Heart Failure.
Dr Biykem Bozkurt, from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, and colleagues described rehospitalisations, hospitalisation costs, use of guideline-directed medical therapy and mortality after hospitalisation for heart failure (HF).
