Cryptic pregnancy a reminder to test all women of child-bearing age with symptoms: case study

For months the patient saw doctors with nausea, amenorrhoea and reflux but was not offered or asked for a pregnancy test.

A woman with obesity and PCOS who tried unsuccessfully to conceive for years did not realise she was finally pregnant until she was in labour, UK doctors report. 

The woman, in her early 40s, had experienced nausea, amenorrhoea and reflux during the nine months but was never offered a pregnancy test by her GP, say clinicians from Leighton Hospital in Crewe.
