‘We can’t keep withholding information’: Why this GP wants doctors to report breast density

Dr Sandy Minck is angry.

At present, 38 states in the US mandate some level of breast density reporting by mammography services and radiologists to patients or doctors — or both — following a mammogram.

And by September 2024, this will be a nationally consistent requirement following a directive from the Food and Drug Administration earlier this year.

In contrast, WA is the only Australian jurisdiction to mandate breast density notifications after mammograms.
