Nearly 75% of GP registrars say their training is suffering because they are no longer seeing enough patients due to COVID-19.

The concerns have been raised in an online survey of 1000 trainees conducted by General Practice Registrars Australia (GPRA) earlier this month.

All up, working hours had decreased for 13% of the doctors who took part, while 4% said they had either been stood down without pay or lost their jobs.

And one-third of GP registrars said they had been forced to take time off either due to confirmed COVID-19 or contact with a suspected case.
