Is stress over Trump and Brexit making people sick?

Researchers suggest political disruption is affecting citizens’ health

Living in polarised political climates might be making people physically and mentally unwell, researchers warn.

A study from the US suggests exposure to Trumpism has harmed the physical health of some Americans and subjected them to emotional costs and lost friendships.

About 40% of respondents to online questionnaires, collected about four months after President Donald Trump was voted into power, said politics had made them stressed.

Almost one-third had lost their temper and one in five reported losing sleep, while almost one-quarter had experienced damaged friendships due to political disagreements, the survey showed.
