Pharmacy prescribing trial protocol for NSW revealed at last

The trial and treatment protocols for pharmacy prescribing in NSW are now public, two-and-a-half weeks after 1000 pharmacies started offering UTI diagnosis and treatment.
The trial’s primary outcome is self-reported symptom resolution after seven days, with the researchers contacting patients by text message, email or phone.
But the 10-month trial, led by Dr Sarah Dineen-Griffin (PhD), has 29 secondary outcome measures, according to the Australian and New Zealand Clinical Trial Registry listing.
These include ED presentations for UTI complications and whether GPs switch patients to alternative antibiotics, as tracked via hospital, MBS and PBS records.
