Pharmacist explains why he rejects 60-day scripts (it’s not for money)

GPs using 60-day prescribing to dodge the PBS authority line are unwittingly costing patients long term, a pharmacist says.
AusDoc has heard from dozens of GPs accusing pharmacists of rejecting 60-day scripts for spurious reasons, or blatantly for protecting their cash flow.
But Victorian pharmacist Gary Wakeling says there are more reasons why 60-day scripts are rejected.
Most seriously, he says some GPs have written 60-day scripts in lieu of prescribing double the dose of a PBS medicine with authority.
