Patient death prompts warning for acne treatment minocycline
Prescribers have been warned to monitor patients being treated with minocycline after the TGA was alerted to four cases of agranulocytosis including one fatality.
The medicines watchdog says product information for the tetracycline antibiotic is being updated to highlight the rare risk of low granulocyte levels that leaves patients at “very high” risk of serious infection as a result of their suppressed immune system.
