Arthroscopic procedures such as debridement and partial meniscectomy should not be offered for uncomplicated knee osteoarthritis, according to strengthened clinical guidance.

The 2024 Osteoarthritis of the Knee Clinical Care Standard says joint replacement or joint conserving surgery should be considered for patients with severe knee osteoarthritis (OA) that limits their day-to-day function.
