MSF head defends its Gaza neutrality but says its doctors are also ‘the voice of the people’

The head of Médecins Sans Frontières has defended the charity’s impartiality, saying it works in a “spirit of neutrality”.
On Tuesday, Dr Christos Christou, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) International president, fronted the National Press Club in Canberra to discuss its work in Gaza.
During his speech, he called for the Australian Government to impose sanctions on Israel in the same way it would “any other global state that refuses to comply with UN Security Council resolutions”.
“The Australian Government’s expressed support for a ceasefire rings hollow when they are supplying the weapons that continue to kill and maim in Gaza,” he added.
