‘It looks like I will be passing away,’ says Professor Richard Scolyer after glioblastoma returns

The melanoma researcher says it was unclear whether 'luck' or experimental treatment had helped him outlive his initial prognosis.

Professor Richard Scolyer says he only has months to live after surgery confirmed the return of his glioblastoma but he remains grateful to have outlived his initial prognosis.

The joint 2024 Australian of the Year, alongside colleague Professor Georgina Long, revealed this week that the grade 4 glioblastoma he had been diagnosed with 22 months ago had returned.
