GPs earned just over $22,000 more than a train driver, the latest tax office data shows
The median GP income is just $143,000 — the lowest of all of the medical specialties by tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars, the latest Australian Taxation Office (ATO) data show.
In news that will come as no surprise, GPs were not in the same ballpark as many other specialists when it came to taxable income in 2019-20, the most recent figures published by the tax office reveal.
