‘I still remember the first time I saw all the cancer cells were dead’
Melbourne haematologist and researcher Professor Mark Dawson hasn’t forgotten the day he saw dead cancer cells that were the result of his groundbreaking work on blood cancers.
“I still remember the time when I looked down the microscope after treating some cancer cells with a new epigenetic therapy and saw that all the cells were dead,” says Professor Dawson, who has has just been awarded the Frank Fenner Prize for Life Scientist of the Year.
