Hospital admissions for epilepsy change with the weather: study

Climatic changes are possible trigger factors for seizure-related hospitalisations in patients with epilepsy, a study shows.
Researchers from the Friedrich-Alexander-University Hospital Erlangen in Germany looked at data on almost 9,370 patients with epilepsy who were admitted to the hospital due to epileptic seizures.
They assessed the influence of a spectrum of weather factors and seasonal variations on hospital admissions, in the study in the Journal of Clinical Medicine.
Seven weather parameters were considered including maximum and minimum temperatures, rain, humidity and air pressure.
