Hearing tests done in shipping containers highlight ‘dire’ state of primary care in the Top End

GPs seeing patients in corridors, hearing tests conducted in shipping containers and poor accommodation are examples of the “dire” health facilities that have been reported across the NT.

A survey of remote NT health services reveals ageing, poorly maintained clinics, a lack of security for staff and accommodation that is “not fit for purpose”, according to peak body the Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance NT (AMSANT).
