GP who charged $225 for COVID-19 vax consults reprimanded

A GP who charged more than 320 patients up to $225 for administering Pfizer’s Comirnaty during the height of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout has been reprimanded.
Back in 2021, former Minister for Health Greg Hunt threatened to “throw the book” at the Sydney GP following news reports that the practice was charging for pre-vaccination consults against the rollout rules.
The GP finally fronted a Professional Standards Committee this year.
He argued that he was merely following the standard practice at his two clinics by charging new patients a consultation fee, before bulk-billing subsequent consultations.
