Environmentalist GP speaks to AusDoc from his prison cell: ‘I have a job pushing the bins around’

GP Dr Patrick Hart has started his year in Chelmsford Prison after being convicted in a British court for causing criminal damage while protesting for climate change action.
The 38-year-old smashed 16 petrol pumps with a hammer and sprayed them with orange paint.
Emailing AusDoc from prison, he spoke of being scared for his safety in prison — fears that proved unfounded — and why he suddenly became a climate change activist seven years ago.
He apologised for the “terse” responses, explaining that the prison email system put limits on how much he was allowed to write.
