GP fined $5000 after smacking child’s bottom and calling them ‘little brat’ in consultation notes

The tribunal acknowledged the 70-year-old doctor had acted 'completely out of character' during a very stressful time.

A GP has admitted grabbing a two-year-old and smacking his bottom after the child kept turning on and off the lights during his older brother’s appointment.

The GP, 70, wrote in his consult notes that the children’s mother — who was deaf and using an Auslan interpreter on FaceTime — had “no control” over her children, aged two and four.
