A leading Australian GP has been caught up in a worldwide anti-vaxxer conspiracy theory that the Queen is being treated for COVID-19 with ivermectin, thanks to a photo mix-up.

The rumour kicked off after Dr Mukesh Haikerwal was interviewed for TV show A Current Affair in a segment on “global concerns” for Queen Elizabeth, who is reported to be suffering mild symptoms after testing positive for the virus.

The inner west Melbourne GP explained to the Nine Network program that patients in their 90s were in “significant danger” of severe outcomes.

And that the monarch might benefit from new medicines approved for high-risk patients.
