Doctors who voted for work-to-rule industrial action have accepted a 3.5% pay rise after a new offer from the Tasmanian Government.

The “milestone” deal was agreed around six weeks after AMA Tasmania members voted to work rostered hours only and to stop performing non-urgent administration work, including discharge summaries, outside of work hours.

The state’s first medical strike action in decades, it was carefully designed to minimise disruption to patient care, anaesthetist Dr Michael Lumsden-Steel said at the time.

The doctors only worked through lunch when it was essential for patients and claimed as extra paid work hours.
