Doctor says she may have been ‘fooled’ by a compounded semaglutide provider

The drug posted to her in the mail arrived warm when it was meant to be refrigerated.

A doctor is warning GPs to be careful when prescribing compounded semaglutide, saying both she and her prescribing doctor appear to have been taken in by a scam.

The doctor from Far North Queensland, who has asked not to be named, had been using semaglutide for weight management for two years on and off, due to supply issues.

She had been taking an antipsychotic medication which altered her metabolism and made it hard to lose weight despite diet and exercise interventions.

“I’d been without the injection for probably six months and I was still having trouble with my weight,” the doctor told 6minutes.
