Another Medicare muddle: ‘Changes to melanoma excision items badly communicated’

The new skin excision MBS items that appeared yesterday can no doubt function as a useful case study for those with little insight who have been accusing GPs of mass Medicare rorts in recent weeks.
The Federal Department of Health has just unveiled seven new items for the “initial” excision of lesions clinically suspected to be melanoma.
They have been designed to make things easier for doctors.
Each one has different rebates depending on the lesion’s size and location.
