Is the AMA losing its influence, asks its own vice president

Is the AMA losing its influence?
This is the blunt question put forward this week by its own vice-president, Dr Chris Zappala.
In an article published on the AMA’s website, the thoracic physician and sleep doctor says its power has “suffered some diminution and dilution in recent years”.
He stresses the “brand and voice” of the AMA still carry weight with governments, but adds that other groups, particularly the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, are doing a better job of lobbying politicians across Parliament.
