8 bevvies a week raises BP risk in diabetes

Drinking eight or more alcoholic beverages in a week could increase the risk of hypertension in adults who have type 2 diabetes, US researchers have found.
And the higher the number of drinks, the higher the increase in the severity of hypertension, they write in the Journal of the American Heart Association.
The researchers analysed data from more than 10,000 participants in the ACCORD trial that looked at whether heart disease could be reduced in type 2 diabetes patients by targeting risk factors such as BP control, glycaemic control and lipid control.
The research team from the Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, looked at a question about self-reported alcohol consumption.
