‘1800 Medicare’: Mark Butler pledges funding for national after-hours GP telehealth service

The Federal Government wants to expand and rename Healthdirect's nurse-led helpline.

Minister for Health and Aged Care Mark Butler.

The Federal Government has pledged to fund GP telehealth consultations across Australia through its nurse-led helpline if re-elected on 3 May.

The service would run from 6pm to 8am daily via Healthdirect, which already offers 24/7 health and triage advice from RNs and a limited GP telehealth service.
