Medical Must-See: Rare lipoma triggers unusual surgery

Doctors pulled the trigger on an alternative surgical approach for a woman with a rare hand lipoma.
The 56-year-old, with no significant medical history, presented to doctors with a tingling sensation in her left hand and a middle finger that exhibited locking with an active finger grip.
The first doctor diagnosed trigger finger and prescribed steroid injections.
But when it failed to improve, the patient went to hospital elsewhere in Japan.
