Medical Must-See: Rare case of penile hair tourniquet syndrome
When an 11-month-old baby boy was brought to ED with complaints of penile problems, doctors in Pakistan were not expecting to encounter a rare condition requiring a two-staged surgical repair.
The baby presented with abnormal-looking glans “hanging by a narrow pedicle”, which his father had noticed the day before.
He was also passing urine from an opening on the ventral surface of the penis, the doctors reported in Urology Case Reports.
“On examination, the glans was pale looking and attached at the partly amputated left corpus cavernosum,” they wrote.
